These alphabet punch cards are a great way to help your students practice recognizing and identifying the letters of the alphabet. These cards are in black and white only. There is a card for each letter of the alphabet and each card contains a mixture of upper and lower case letters. Your students can use a hole punch to punch out the letters, a bingo dauber to dot the letters, or to make the cards reusable, laminate them and have your students place a counter on the letters. This activity is a great way to introduce your students to and reinforce the concept of time. There are 12 different cards in this set. These color by letter sheets are always popular in my classroom... I have them readily available as fast finisher activities and I offer them during "center" time. My kids love to color them in at the drawing table and since we don't do homework (we just do home reading and sight words), some of my keen students like taking them home to do while their older siblings do their homework. I made up these cute signs to use in my classroom this year. I plan on putting them around the room so that my students can independently see if there is room for them at a particular activity. I'm hoping that by doing this, it will reduce the number of times I get asked if they can do something. These task cards are a fun, hands-on way to help your students learn about fractions. There are 36  task cards designed to be used with colored building blocks. We tend to use Lego blocks for this activity.  Each card asks students to build a colored tower according to given fractions. This is a great hands on activity to introduce students to the concept of fractions in an engaging way. I hope your students enjoy it as much as mine do. Click here to download the file.

Here's another freebie for you. This is a Winter Mystery Picture with the picture grid made up of letters. Use the initial sound of the pictures on the clue cards to color the grid and find the mystery picture. The boxes are larger than normal to make it easier for little fingers to color. To save paper, I took a screenshot and airdropped it to the kids in my class. They then used Doodle Buddy to record their work, save their image and then Seesaw it to me. Settling in to a new class, a new year level... Lots of changes, lots of challenges as I get my head around the new curriculum and all the newness of teaching an unfamiliar year level. I've taught Prep for nearly 10 years and decided that it was time for a change. So here I go with Year 2! We have been working on establishing Math Center time these last couple of weeks. One area that I've been concentrating on is time. Most of my kids can tell time to the hour and half hour with ease. Adding quarter past and quarter to hasn't been quite so easy though. So I created a memory style game for them to practice this skill a little more. The full pack includes o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to times in both digital and analogue format. I created this activity to help my kids build their sight word knowledge whilst also reinforcing initial sound identification. My kids loved being junior detectives as they cracked the secret code to reveal a hidden sight word. We used dry erase markers, magnetic letters, letter tiles and a heap of other alphabet manipulatives that we had in our room to keep them interested in this activity over a few weeks. Happy New Year! I'm in the full swing of preparing for back to school... More laminating, cutting, sorting, labelling... And I can't wait to get into my classroom in just over a week! I have gone back to basics with some of the new resources that I've made. I have so many literacy resources but I found that some of my basic maths games/activities needed a bit of a revamp with some new clipart and colours. I have made up two new sets of sorting mats for numbers 1 to 10. I made one in a fairly simple form - only counting and numeral recognition required. Click here to get this product from Teachers Pay Teachers Every year there are always a couple of kids who seem to need lots of practice listening for and identifying the initial sound in words. This past year was no exception... It didn't matter how many activities I threw their way, they still needed more and more practice. The problem that I had however, was that they stopped identifying the sound and just formed a connection between certain objects and the letter shape - They weren't picking up the concept. So, I took away all of the usual activities with the predictable snake = s, apple = a, and went in search of some new ones. I found a Build a Sandwich activity on Teachers Pay Teachers which worked a treat! It had different pictures for each sound and I could put out however many sandwich toppings I wanted.
